New Identity Noida International Airport Receives Exclusive IATA 3-Letter Code, Flights Set for December 2024 Launch

Noida International Airport, in Uttar Pradesh, now has a three-letter code called DXN. This code is used for booking flights with airlines.

It’s provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to all airports. DXN is now the permanent code for Noida International Airport, bringing joy to CEO Christophe Schnellmann and Chief Operations Officer Kiran Jain.

Why IATA Codes Are Special?

IATA codes are unique codes assigned to each airport globally. They help identify airports between countries and cities in a standardized way.

These codes are not just used on passenger travel documents but also play a vital role in various other communications.

When Will Flights Begin?

Noida International Airport is set to begin operations by December 2024. CEO Christophe Schnellmann expressed excitement, saying, “Today, we are thrilled.

We’ve achieved another milestone in this crucial project. Today, we announce that IATA has honored Noida International with the three-letter code DXN.

Airlines and travel agencies will use this code internationally to identify Noida International Airport. This code will be used for ticket booking as well as baggage tags. It’s a significant step towards the airport’s completion and commencement.”

Why Is Getting an IATA Code Important?

For air travel, an IATA code is like a unique PIN code for each airport, helping to identify them globally, even in cases of ambiguity.

This code not only appears on passengers’ travel documents but also serves as an essential element in daily communication.

How Many Passengers Will the Terminal Accommodate?

Kiran Jain explained that work at Noida International Airport is progressing according to the agreement with the government.

A terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers is being constructed at Jewar Airport. They aim to complete it by December 2024.

Afterward, extensive testing and other tasks will follow. Rigorous testing is done before commencing operations. They hope to start flights by December 2024.

Construction at Noida International Airport is proceeding rapidly. Tata Projects’ EPC Construction is responsible for completing this project.

Work has been underway for more than a year. Currently, they are working on constructing the terminal roof. The ATC tower is already finished, and runway construction is ongoing, with 7,000 workers involved.

It’s worth noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Noida International Airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, in November last year.

This airport will be the second international airport in the Delhi-National Capital Region, enabling travelers to journey both domestically and internationally.
