A Special Visa Moment for Dr. Ranju Singh
The one millionth non-immigrant visa was granted to Dr. Ranju Singh from Delhi. Alongside her, her husband Puneet Dargan received the subsequent visa.
US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, personally congratulated the couple, referring to them as “Mr. and Mrs. One Million.
They are set to visit America in May next year. Dr. Ranju Singh, a senior advisor at Lady Hardinge College, expressed her excitement about the special moment and their upcoming trip to the US.
Achieving Targets Through Partnership
Ambassador Garcetti expressed his delight for both India and America, emphasizing the importance of the US-India partnership.
He highlighted the efforts made to expedite visa processes, with changes in systems and increased units, leading to the successful processing of one million immigration visa applications this year.
Garcetti assured ongoing visa work to enable more Indian applicants to experience the friendship between the two nations firsthand.
India’s Growing Travel Influence
India has become a significant contributor to US visa applicants, with over 10 percent of applicants worldwide being Indian. Last year, more than 1.2 million Indians visited the US, making it a prominent global travel destination.
The increasing number of Indian applicants, including students and those seeking employment visas, has prompted substantial investments and expansions in US operations in India, ensuring a streamlined visa processing experience for applicants.
Facilities have been enhanced, with expansions in Chennai and the inauguration of a new Consulate building in Hyderabad.
