Indian Railways offers up to 75% Discount on Train Tickets to Eligible Passengers

Indian Railways, which operates the largest rail network in Asia and the second largest in the world, transports about 25 million passengers daily.

The railway network has over 70,000 passenger coaches and 11,000 locomotives, and employs over 1.4 million people.

In addition to its extensive services, Indian Railways also provides travel discounts to a variety of passengers, such as award winners, unemployed youth, students, army personnel, disabled individuals, escorts, tourist guides, patients, women, and doctors.

Disabled persons, for example, are eligible for a concession of 25%-75% on Sleeper and AC class tickets.

This concession is available to Orthopedically Handicapped/Paraplegic persons, Blind persons, Mentally challenged persons, and Deaf and Dumb persons.

To receive this discount, individuals must provide the necessary documents to the ticket booking offices at the station.

After that, they must approach the designated commercial officers of the Railway Zone, Division or Zonal Railway Headquarters to claim the concession.

Previously, senior citizens also received a discount on train tickets, but this was discontinued due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
