Get Rs 10 Lakh Insurance for 35 Paise: IRCTC Travel Insurance

Whenever we plan a train journey, financial security often comes to mind. However, travel insurance is a way to ease that concern.

If an accident occurs suddenly during the train journey, you can benefit from travel insurance.

When booking train tickets online through the IRCTC app, you are automatically offered an insurance option for just 35 paise, which provides coverage of up to 10 lakh rupees.

How to Benefit from the 35 Paise Insurance Option

Taking advantage of this insurance option is as easy as traveling by train. Here, we’ll explain how you can benefit from travel insurance and what the insurance claim process entails.

Understanding the 35 Paise Insurance

When booking train tickets through IRCTC, passengers are presented with an option to choose insurance by paying a premium of 35 paise.

Passengers can select ‘No’ if they do not wish to take insurance. Otherwise, if you choose insurance and an accident occurs during your journey,

you will be eligible for travel insurance coverage. However, the process for claiming insurance benefits is slightly different.

Filling in Nominee Details for Insurance Claims

After booking an IRCTC ticket, every passenger receives a message and email. In this message, there is a link that passengers must click to fill in nominee details under the insurance policy.

You need to provide the name of a family member, their mobile number, date of birth, email, and the relationship.

Only after filling in these nominee details can you make a travel insurance claim. Those who do not provide nominee details may have to go through a separate legal process with documents if they need to claim insurance.

IRCTC’s Insurance Partners

IRCTC has partnered with two insurance companies, Liberty Insurance and SBI General Insurance, to provide this insurance service.

These companies offer travel insurance coverage of up to 10 lakh rupees for a premium of just 35 paise during a journey.

Additionally, they provide coverage of 7.5 lakh rupees for permanent disability and 2 lakh rupees for disability.
