From Lucknow to Varanasi: New Flight Launched

New Air Travel Route from Lucknow to Varanasi

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has introduced a new direct flight service from Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport to Varanasi.

Making Travel Easier for Pilgrims and Travelers

This new flight route connects the capital city of Lucknow to the spiritual city of Varanasi.

Many people, including representatives, businesspeople, and devotees visiting the Kashi Vishwanath temple, had been requesting a direct flight service between Lucknow and Varanasi for a long time.

Varanasi has witnessed remarkable growth in various fields, including spirituality, culture, and physical development, under the leadership of the Prime Minister in the past nine years.

This connection is significant due to the progress and importance of Varanasi.

Increasing Number of Travelers

In the year 2016-17, around 19 lakh travelers arrived in Varanasi and traveled from there.

However, this number has increased to over 25 lakh in the year 2022-23.

The expansion of air travel services in Uttar Pradesh has been rapid over the past six years.

Initially, there were only two airports in Uttar Pradesh – Varanasi and Lucknow. Now, there are nine active airports in the state, with two of them being international airports.

Expansion Plans and New Airports

Currently, work is underway on twelve airports in the state, including two international ones.

The Ayodhya airport is expected to be ready within the next three months.

Additionally, construction is ongoing for Asia’s largest international airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

These developments are aimed at enhancing cargo services and establishing Uttar Pradesh as an export hub.

Growing Air Travel Across the State

Air travel has expanded to cities like Bareilly, Agra, and Prayagraj, which now offer air services.

The Udaan scheme has made air travel accessible to a wider range of people, even those who had never thought of traveling by air before.

For instance, the number of travelers in Gorakhpur has grown from 54,000 in 2016-17 to over seven lakh today.

Prayagraj has also seen a significant increase in the number of air travelers.

Air Connectivity and Future Prospects

The air traffic in cities like Lucknow has seen impressive growth, with the number of travelers increasing from 39.68 lakh to more than 52.20 lakh.

This expansion indicates the growing potential for air travel in Uttar Pradesh.

Efforts are also being made to establish airports in places like Azamgarh, Shravasti, Sonbhadra, Chitrakoot, Aligarh, Muradabad, Meerut, and Saharanpur.

These initiatives aim to connect previously underserved areas through air travel.

Collaboration with the state government has been established for the development of five airports.

Focusing on Quality Service and Efficiency

In today’s competitive environment, providing quality service and ensuring punctuality have become crucial factors for success in the aviation industry.

As we continue to prioritize these aspects, it has a positive impact on travelers.

In the coming years, India is expected to welcome around two thousand new aircraft to the market, creating a healthy competition.

Those airlines that offer quality service and punctuality will lead the way.

The introduction of direct flights between Lucknow and Varanasi is a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and making travel easier for pilgrims and travelers.

The expansion of air travel services in Uttar Pradesh has led to increased economic and cultural exchange between cities.

The state’s commitment to improving air travel infrastructure bodes well for the future of air connectivity in the region.
