With the arrival of the monsoon season, people have found great relief in the rains, especially those living in hilly areas.

Gradually, the affected cities are returning to normalcy, including Shimla, where train services have resumed after 84 days.
Train Services Resumed: A Blessing for Locals and Tourists
The Indian Railways has started the operation of trains on the UNESCO World Heritage Kalka-Shimla route. Currently, there are 5 trains running on this track.
During the peak season, two additional holiday trains will be operated.
The commencement of train services has brought significant relief to both local residents and tourists. Let’s delve into the timetable of these trains.
Timetable: Trains from Kalka to Shimla
The first train departs from Kalka at 4:00 AM and reaches Shimla at 9:20 AM. The second train starts from Kalka at 5:10 AM and arrives in Shimla at 9:50 AM.
The third Shivalik train leaves Kalka at 5:30 AM and reaches Shimla at 10:15 AM.
Fourth Train Departure Schedule
The fourth train will depart from Kalka at 6:00 AM and reach Shimla at 11:05 AM. The fifth Himalayan Queen train will start its journey from Kalka at 12:10 PM and will reach Shimla at 5:20 PM.
The trains on this route will adhere to the same timetable every day, ensuring consistency. Presently, trains are running according to this timetable as well.
Train Schedule from Shimla to Kalka
Starting from Shimla, the first Himalayan Queen train departs at 10:35 AM and reaches Kalka at 2:10 PM.
The second train leaves Shimla at 2:25 PM and arrives in Kalka at 8:10 PM. The third train departs from Shimla at 4:25 PM and reaches Kalka at 9:35 PM.
The fourth Shivalik Express train departs from Shimla at 5:40 PM and arrives at Kalka Station at 10:25 PM. The fifth and final train departs from Shimla at 6:15 PM and reaches Kalka at 11:20 PM.
Holiday Special Train Schedule
The first special holiday train will depart from Kalka at 7:00 AM and reach Shimla at 12:10 PM. The second special holiday train will start from Kalka at 12:45 PM and reach Shimla at 6:10 PM.
The first special holiday train from Shimla will depart at 3:50 PM and reach Kalka at 9:10 PM. The second special holiday train from Shimla will depart at 9:25 PM and reach Kalka at 3:20 PM the next day.
