Caravan tourism could soon become a source of joy for tourists in Uttarakhand, as Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that it would provide
“the freedom to travel anywhere from road routes while maintaining social distance.”
On Friday, the minister inaugurated the state’s first caravan, a state-of-the-art vehicle equipped with an LED TV, a sofa, a bathroom, GPS, a microwave, and a coffee maker along with a small kitchenette.
If the initial response is positive, the department will invest in more such luxurious road-trip vehicles.
Maharaj expressed that this concept aimed to offer individuals the experience of luxury travel with friends and family
while setting up camps at lesser-known places with all the conveniences of home. The booking process and fees will be announced by the department soon.
The Tourism Minister highlighted that the caravan project will also create self-employment opportunities for local residents.
A “Caravan Investor Support Cell” has been established by the Tourism Department, allowing locals to purchase caravans.
This opportunity will be made available through the Ministry of MSME and the Tourism Department. The government is also providing definite funding for this initiat
