Railway Rule: Now you can easily change Date of Your confirmed Ticket without cancellation

The Indian Railway system is widely recognized as the lifeline of India, serving millions of people who rely on trains for their daily travel needs.

Many individuals plan their train journeys months in advance, securing reservations to ensure a comfortable trip.

However, despite these plans, circumstances may sometimes change, leading to the need for cancellation.

Unfortunately, this can result in financial loss due to the cancellation charges imposed by the Railways.

Changing the Date of a Confirmed Ticket

If you find yourself in a situation where you need to change the date of your confirmed ticket, there are certain rules that can help you reschedule without any deduction.

According to railway regulations, you must surrender your ticket at the reservation counter 48 hours prior to the train’s departure from the station.

At the counter, you can apply for a new date and even consider upgrading your class, if desired.

Changing the date of travel does not incur any charges. However, if you decide to change your class, you will be required to pay the fare applicable to the new class.

It’s important to note that you can only make this change once.

Changing the Destination Station

In addition to changing the date, you also have the flexibility to modify your destination station.

If you wish to continue your journey to a different station, you can approach the TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) on the train and purchase a ticket for the new destination.

In this case, you need to obtain a ticket to the desired destination from the station where you initially boarded the train.

Changing the Boarding Station

Should you need to change the boarding station, you can make a request to the Chief Reservation Supervisor or the Reservation Supervisor on duty before the first chart of the train is prepared.

This can be done by submitting an application. Additionally, you can avail of this facility through the IRCTC website or by contacting the helpline number 139.

It’s worth noting that this option is available for both tickets booked through reservation centers and online.
