Travelers heading to Mexico in 2024 have reason to celebrate! Whether they’re eager to savor the lively street food culture or relax in an all-inclusive resort,
they might find themselves in luck as flight prices to their destination are expected to be very budget-friendly.
Increased Flight Options Between the US and Mexico
According to travel experts at Going, the number of people booking flights between the United States and Mexico last month was 33% higher compared to the period before the pandemic.
While demand has been consistent over the past few years, flight options to Mexico have been limited.
Positive Developments in Air Travel
Andrew Hickey, Senior Manager of Public Relations at Going, stated, “The surge in popularity has made it challenging to find affordable flights to Mexico,
at least on certain routes and dates. However, there’s good news: we might soon see cheap flights to Mexico.”
Just last month, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, in collaboration with Mexican civil aviation authorities, restored Mexico’s safety rating to its highest level after two years of cooperation.
This means Mexico can open new routes with the United States, and announcements from airlines like Viva Aerobus confirm plans to start new routes to Mexico from cities such as Austin, Denver, Miami, New York City, San Francisco, and Orlando in 2024.
Expanding Travel Options for Exploring Mexico
The SkyTeam alliance partners, Aeromexico and Delta Air Lines, have announced 17 new flights starting from January 1, 2024.
These flights include Mexico City’s secondary airport, Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU), which has recently been granted permission to increase airline capacity.
Additionally, a brand-new Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport (TQO) in Tulum is set to open by the end of the year.
Both Delta and Spirit have announced flights starting from March 28, 2024, providing travelers with more non-stop options, making popular vacation destinations in Mexico even more appealing.
Going spokesperson Katie Nastro commented, “Cities offering the most affordable flights to Mexico have one thing in common: multiple airlines operate flights to the same destination.
Competition for cheap flights is fierce, so as more airlines introduce more routes with more passengers, we’ll likely begin to see which cities top the list for affordable flights to Mexico.
” Travelers can anticipate a wider array of affordable flight options to explore Mexico’s wonders in 2024.
