Although Lord Shiva is known for his extremely gentle nature, this form of Shiva is very fierce.

Mahakal is also called the Maharaja of Ujjain. According to religious beliefs, it is essential to seek the blessings of Mahakal before doing anything auspicious.

If you are planning to seek the blessings of Mahakal and visit before the arrival of the new year, let me first tell you how much the ticket will cost, at what time the Bhasma Aarti takes place, and what you should wear here.

Online Booking Facility

For the convenience of devotees, the Mahakal Temple Committee has started the facility of online booking for darshan. However, you need to book online before going to the temple.

Once the booking is accepted, you will receive a message on your phone. Besides, for those who cannot visit the temple, there is also an option to join the live Aarti.

Booking Rules

You can book online for Mahakal darshan 60 days in advance.

Additionally, you can also book tickets two days before the darshan.

One person can book for up to 10 people from their account.

Devotees need to make a payment of Rs. 200 for online booking.

To see Mahakal, first do registration.

Before booking online for darshan, go to the official website shrimahakaleshwar.com.

On the home page, click on Mahakal Darshan/Bhasm Aarti Booking.

After that, select the date for darshan or Aarti.

Here, register yourself.

After booking, you will receive a message on your mobile with the registration number and password.

Note that there is no fee for booking darshan for women and children. Also, a couple can bring up to four children.

Ticket Prices for Darshan

In the Jyotirling Mahakal Temple, devotees can visit the sanctum sanctorum to see Lord Mahakal with tickets priced at 750 and 1500 rupees from 6 am to 12:30 pm daily.

Pilgrims can purchase tickets from the counter near the Bada Ganesh Temple. Please be aware that there is often a long line for tickets.

Clothing for Bhasm Aarti

There are specific rules for attending the Bhasm Aarti. Only the priests are allowed to perform the Aarti, while others can only watch.

Men need to wear only a dhoti for Aarti, and women must cover their heads with a veil during the Aarti.

It is believed that during this time, Lord Shiva is in a formless state, and women are not allowed to witness this form of the deity.
