Jharkhand is all set to inaugurate its first Intercity Express with Vistadome coaches. A senior railway official shared this information.
The term ‘Vistadome’ is a combination of two words, ‘Vista’ and ‘Dome.’ ‘Vista’ means scenery, and ‘Dome’ refers to a shape like a dome.
So, a ‘Vistadome’ coach is designed to provide passengers with panoramic views, mainly in hilly areas. Such trains come with modern amenities.
Route and Scenic Beauty
The train will run between New Giridih Station and Ranchi, offering travelers a new experience of a journey with glimpses of natural beauty like mountains and dense forests.
The inaugural run of the Intercity Express will display the green flag at New Giridih Station on Tuesday.
The event may see the presence of Central Minister Annapurna Devi, Giridih’s MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary, local MLA Kedar Hazra, and the state unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi.
Vistadome Coach Experience
Birendra Kumar, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the East Central Railway’s Hazipur Zone, explained that the new Intercity Express will feature a transparent-roofed Vistadome coach, offering passengers a fresh travel experience.
They can enjoy picturesque views along the route via Barakakana Junction and Mesra.
The train will depart from Giridih at 6:05 AM and reach New Giridih at around 1 PM. It will depart from there at 2 PM and reach Ranchi at 9:30 PM.
Mr. Raj, a railway officer, mentioned that the Intercity Express will run on the Barakakana-Muri-Tatisilwai route instead of its earlier route, Barakakana-Mesra-Tatisilwai.
This change was made to accommodate passenger trains, as the Mesra route was closed after a landslide between Sidhwar (Ramgarh) and Sanki (Ranchi).
Currently, only freight trains are operational via Mesra.
