If you’re planning to visit Goa anytime soon, here’s some great news! The Chief Minister of the state has made a significant announcement that will enhance the tourist experience in the region.

Goa’s Move Towards Electric Tourist Vehicles

In a bold step towards sustainable tourism, CM Pramod Sawant revealed that starting from January 2024, all tourist vehicles available for rent in Goa will be electric.

This revolutionary decision includes motorcycles and cabs as well.

The aim is to promote electric vehicles (EVs) and implement major reforms in the state.

Goa’s Impressive Stand on Electric Vehicles

During a program organized by NITI Aayog in Panaji, CM Sawant mentioned that Goa ranks fourth among states in terms of EV purchases.

With this new policy, the government is taking proactive measures to embrace eco-friendly transportation.

Benefits for Tourists Visiting Goa

Tourists planning a trip to Goa will be the ones to benefit the most from this move.

Previously, visitors had to bear the expenses of fuel for their rental cars, bikes, or scooters.

However, with the adoption of electric vehicles, tourists can conveniently charge their rented vehicles at charging stations located in hotels or other places, significantly reducing their travel costs.

While details about the charging infrastructure are yet to be disclosed, it is anticipated that the government will soon announce plans for setting up charging stations similar to petrol pumps, ensuring a hassle-free experience for tourists.
