Have you ever thought about a place, other than Shimla or Manali, where you can experience the tranquility of nature just like in the hills?

We’re talking about the picturesque Jamui district located in Bihar, surrounded by wilderness. If you have a passion for adventure, Jamui is an exciting destination you can visit.

Gidheswar Wildlife Sanctuary: A Nature Lover’s Haven

Just 12 km away from the Jamui district headquarters lies the Gidheswar Wildlife Sanctuary, spreading across thousands of acres.

The breathtaking valleys and forests here can rival any hill station. Let’s explore some of the beautiful attractions of this place.

Garhi Dam: Nature’s Delight

In the midst of the Gidheswar Wildlife Sanctuary, you’ll find the Garhi Dam, a sight to behold for nature enthusiasts. Boating and various other activities are available here, attracting a large number of tourists.

The dam, inaugurated by former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav, has retained its natural beauty over the years. It’s approximately 24 km away from the Jamui district headquarters.

Panchbhur Waterfall: A Blissful Retreat

The Gidheswar forest area connects Bihar’s Jamui and Nawada districts, along with Giridih district in Jharkhand. Here, you can witness a series of seven mountains, each filled with geographical and natural wonders, making them quite popular among the locals.

One such wonder is the Panchbhur Waterfall, where warm and cold waterfalls coexist, providing visitors with a unique bathing experience.

Gidheswar Hill: A Spiritual Journey

Gidheswar Jungle has historical significance dating back to the time of Ramayana. It is believed that during Ravana’s abduction of Sita, a fierce battle occurred between Ravana and Jatayu, resulting in one of Jatayu’s feathers falling onto this mountain.

To commemorate this event, a temple dedicated to Gidheswar Nath Mahadev was built on top of the hill. This temple attracts devotees from Bihar, Jharkhand, and beyond, especially during the month of Shravan.

Simultala Hill Station: Nature’s Wonderland

Simultala Hill Station, located in the Jamui district, is a highly popular tourist spot. It presents a mesmerizing view of the surrounding hills, lush greenery, and pleasant weather.

This hill station is renowned for its natural beauty and serves as an excellent retreat for those seeking peace and nature’s charm.
