Planning a Hub for Art and Crafts Sales
The city of Amritsar is getting ready to establish a new shopping center called Unity Mall, where artworks and crafts from all over the country will be sold.

The Unity Mall will provide dedicated stalls for each of Punjab’s 23 districts, making it easier for visitors to explore and purchase regional crafts.

The Punjab government is launching a plan to boost tourism in Amritsar, with a focus on encouraging tourists to stay for at least two days.
Deputy Commissioner Amit Talwar held a meeting with hotel industry representatives, travel agents, and guides to discuss ways to extend tourists’ stays.
Amritsar is a city rich in religious and historical significance, and this plan aims to make tourists stay longer by developing its historical and heritage buildings as attractions.
This effort intends to educate visitors about Amritsar’s history and culture, contributing to a deeper understanding of Punjab and its traditions.
Developing Amritsar as a Destination Wedding Hub
The vision includes transforming Amritsar into a destination wedding corner, attracting visitors from all over the country for extended periods.
This strategy is expected to significantly boost Amritsar’s economy by hosting weddings and related events that bring in visitors and contribute to the local economy.
Unity Mall: A Center for Art and Craft Sales
The plan also involves the construction of Unity Mall in Amritsar, which will serve as a sales center for artworks and crafts from across the nation.
Under the roof of Unity Mall, various regional art forms will be showcased and sold, aligning with the ‘Made in India’ campaign.
The mall will have stalls representing each of Punjab’s 23 districts, where unique local products can be displayed and sold.
Additionally, a large hall will be designated as a sales center for all states and union territories of India, showcasing a diverse range of products.
The mall will also feature a food court, offering Amritsar’s delicious cuisine, providing a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience for both local and international visitors.
Envisioning an Attractive Park for Children
There are also considerations to create an appealing park for children in Amritsar.
During the meeting, representatives from the hotel industry and tour travel agents expressed their ideas and demands for this project.
District Tourism Officer Gursharan Singh, Tourism Officer Navdeep, and a significant number of hotel industry and tour travel agent representatives were present during this discussion.
