The transportation department has reduced the fares for the capital city bus service. Until now, the fare for these buses was ten percent higher compared to regular buses. This reduction means passengers can save ₹13 when traveling a hundred kilometers.

Direct Bus Services to State Capitals

Plans were made to introduce direct bus services from districts to the capital city, Lucknow. Under this plan, Rajdhani Express buses were introduced, connecting Agra, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Vaidyanath, Gaya, Puri, Konark, and Lucknow.

Initially, these buses had a fare ten percent higher than regular ones due to their direct and faster routes. However, in response to passenger demand, the fares were lowered.

Approval and Implementation of Reduced Fares

In the 246th meeting of the governing body held on October 18, approval was granted to reduce the fares by ten percent.

Following the official notification, Regional Managers and Assistant Regional Managers received letters from the Chief Manager (Operations) Manoj Kumar Pundir on October 30, instructing them to implement the reduced fares.

Currently, there are 168 Rajdhani buses operating throughout the state, with the fare reduced from ₹1.43 to ₹1.30 per kilometer. These reduced fares will be effective from October 31.

Rajdhani Buses Serving Ten Cities

Rajdhani Express bus services are operational between ten cities, connecting them via the Kaiserbagh bus station.

These cities include Bijnor, Muradabad, Shamli, Delhi, Bareilly, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Saharanpur, Pilibhit, and Bahraich. Passengers traveling on these routes will now pay a lower fare, making bus travel more affordable and accessible.
