In recent months, Shimla, the beloved hill station of Himachal Pradesh, has witnessed a surge in the number of tourists visiting.

Shimla has always been a favorite destination for tourists, attracting visitors not only from India but also from around the world.

Its natural beauty has mesmerized travelers for years. However, the influx of tourists had slowed down due to natural calamities such as floods and landslides at the beginning of the year.

But in recent weeks, there has been a notable increase in the number of tourists returning to Shimla.

Impact of Monsoon Rains on Tourism

Recovery After Monsoon Challenges

The tourism industry in Himachal Pradesh faced setbacks due to heavy rains and floods during July and August.

Mohinder Seth, the president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association and Tourism Stakeholders, stated that after the floods, there has been a significant rise in tourist arrivals, giving hope for a prosperous future for the industry.

However, Seth expressed concern about the illegal operation of homestays. He highlighted that unauthorized homestays and bed-and-breakfast guesthouses pose a threat to the industry.

Despite the challenges, the state welcomed over 16 million tourists until June. However, tourism was severely impacted in July and August due to the rains and floods. Now, tourists are returning to the valleys of Shimla once again.

Tourists’ Positive Outlook

Tourists’ Joyful Return to Shimla

Several tourists, speaking to a news agency, expressed their happiness about Shimla’s current state.

One of them mentioned that they initially thought the floods and rains had caused havoc, but now everything seems normal, and they are enjoying their travel experience.

Travelers have shared their delight in being in Shimla, with a significant number of Bengali tourists also flocking to the region.

They are visiting the famous Kalibari Temple and indulging in the scenic beauty that Shimla has to offer.
