Pitru Paksha Mahasangam 2023 started on Thursday in Gaya, Bihar. This year, thousands of devotees from India and abroad will come to perform ancestral rituals.

The district administration has made extensive preparations to ensure the convenience of these devotees.

Gaya district administration has constructed a tent city to accommodate pilgrims arriving from different parts of the country and the world.

Tent City Accommodation for 2500 Pilgrims

The tent city has been set up to provide free accommodation for 2500 pilgrims. Additionally, the district administration has identified several schools and monasteries where more than 60,000 people can stay.

Last year, arrangements were made for 1500 pilgrims in the tent city, but this year, it is expected that the number of pilgrims will increase, so Gaya district administration has made comprehensive preparations.

Free Accommodation in the Tent City

This year, pilgrims staying in the tent city won’t have to pay any charges. Those arriving in Gaya can register at the Gandhi Maidan tent city for accommodation if they don’t have other arrangements.

Facilities Provided to Pilgrims

Prateek Kashyap, the director of the tent city, shared that various facilities will be provided to the pilgrims.

These include accommodation arrangements, lockers for keeping belongings, a “MAY I HELP YOU” counter, sufficient security guards and CCTV surveillance,

clean drinking water supply, adequate changing rooms, and a provision for Ganga water supply for those staying in the tent city.

Pilgrims from India and abroad who stay in the tent city will also have access to Ganga water for drinking.

Awareness of Government Welfare Schemes

Adequate deluxe restroom facilities, 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply, free vegetarian meals provided by Jeevika and Sudha Dairy, along with bhajans and Ramleela performances throughout the fair duration, have been arranged.

The Information and Public Relations Department will also set up an extensive exhibition at Gandhi Maidan to inform pilgrims about the government’s welfare schemes, ensuring that all pilgrims are aware of them.
