Rishikesh is best known for its thrilling white water rafting activity. During the summer months, it becomes a hub for rafting enthusiasts.

Although this activity is temporarily halted during the monsoon season, it resumes after the rain subsides.

Changes in Rafting Prices

Recently, the authorities of the Rafting Association announced an increase in rafting prices. This may make this activity a bit more expensive.

The prices are expected to rise by 20 to 30 percent after five years.

Rafting at Different Locations

Rafting in Rishikesh takes place at five different locations, each offering a unique experience.

These places include Phoolchatti, Brahmapuri, Marine Drive, Shivpuri, and Kaudiyala. Notably, Kaudiyala offers the longest and most adventurous route, surrounded by thrilling rapids and natural beauty.

Meanwhile, Shivpuri, Brahmapuri, and Marine Drive cater to beginners, with trips lasting three, four, and five hours, respectively.

Current Rafting Prices

As per the Ganga River Rafting Rotation Committee, the current rafting prices at these locations are as follows: Kaudiyala costs ₹2,500, Marine Drive is ₹1,500, Shivpuri is ₹1,000, and Brahmapuri is ₹600 per person.

Local rafting companies have indicated that they may further increase these prices, which could add to the excitement for adventure seekers.

No Price Increases During COVID-19 Pandemic

Dinesh Bhatt, the head of the committee, mentioned that despite losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, rafting prices remained unchanged for the past five years.

Now, addressing the issue of price hikes is a matter of serious concern, and a meeting is scheduled soon to decide on the increase in rates.

Best Times to Visit Rishikesh

The best time to visit Rishikesh for a vacation is during the winter months, from October to February.

However, for rafting enthusiasts, the peak season is during the summer, from March to July. The summers witness the highest influx of people, especially groups of friends seeking adventure.
