The History Behind Charbagh Railway Station

The construction of Charbagh Railway Station dates back to 1784 during the reign of Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula.

It boasts a length of approximately 163 feet and a width of 60 feet. Interestingly, this grand station has no pillars, and its roof soars to a height of over 15 meters.

To reach the roof, there are around 1024 pathways, but only one way to descend.

The Genesis of STD Services in India

India’s first STD (Subscriber Trunk Dialing) service was introduced in 1960. The maiden STD call was made between Lucknow and Kanpur.

Prior to this service, long-distance calls were only possible with the assistance of an operator.
